Crystal River Woman Dies in Rollover Accident in Maryland

1093472_wrecked.jpgAn 81-year-old Crystal River woman died at a Maryland hospital last month after being involved in a two-vehicle rollover crash in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 near Hagerstown, Maryland Regional Airport.

The deceased was a passenger in a 2011 CRX, driven by her 83-year-old husband. According to police, the Cadillac was hit by a 2008 Ford Edge merging onto the highway.

The couple was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver of the Cadillac was in stable condition with nonlife-threatening injuries.

The 20-year-old driver of the Ford was uninjured.

Police believe the driver of the Ford executed an unsafe lane change after getting on the interstate, causing the Ford to turn sideways as both drivers lost control of their vehicles.

Many auto accidents occur as a result of motorists failing to take the necessary safety precautions before executing a maneuver. One of the most common driving errors involves making an unsafe lane change. Unfortunately, when a driver performs an unsafe lane change, they put everyone sharing the road with them at extreme risk for serious personal injuries or death. Unsafe lane changes can include the following:

• Not Using Turn Signals
• Changing Lanes in an Intersection
• Cutting Off Other Drivers
• Straddling Two Lanes
• Executing a Lane Change at a High Speed
If you or someone you love has been involved in an accident caused by an unsafe lane change made by a negligent or inexperienced driver, you should speak to an auto accident injury attorney immediately to learn more about your rights to compensation for damages.
