Three people were killed and five seriously injured in a crash in Lecanto last week.
According to officials, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 4:37 p.m. near West Grover Cleveland Boulevard and South Lecanto Highway.
Three adults died, and five others, including three children, were injured.
This accident shut down all lanes of Grover Cleveland Boulevard.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2008 Suzuki Aerio was traveling eastbound on Grover Cleveland Boulevard, west of CR-491, when it exited the roadway and smashed into a Toyota Prius traveling westbound on Grover Cleveland Boulevard.
The driver and a passenger in the Suzuki, a 22-year-old Inverness girl and a 22-year-old Ocala man, died at the scene. A 3-year-old girl travelling inside the Suzuki was seriously injured.
In the Prius, a 78-year-old Homosassa woman was transported to the hospital where she later died. Four other people suffered serious injuries, including a 13 and 15-year-old girl.
