Graco is recalling about 5 million strollers after receiving 11 reports of finger injuries, including amputation and lacerations.
The problem with the fold-up strollers is that they have a hinge on the side that can easily pinch a child’s finger.
According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, “Graco has received 11 reports of finger injuries including six reports of fingertip amputation, four reports of partial-fingertip amputation and one finger laceration.”
Graco recommends contacting the company as soon as possible for a free repair kit. They also advise that if you must use the stroller to “exercise extreme care.” They urge parents to not place a child in the stroller until the side hinges are fully locked. Should the stroller start to fold up with a child inside, immediately remove the child and make sure their fingers are away from the hinges.

- Breeze
- Capri
- Cirrus
- Glider
- Kite
- LiteRider
- Sierra
- Solara
- Sterling
- TravelMate
The strollers were sold at Target, Toys R Us, Walmart and numerous other retailers, as well as online, from August 2000 through November 2014. The recall includes single-occupant strollers that have two external hinges on each side with a sliding fold-lock mechanism and another fold-release mechanism on the handle.
